Dear Fellow Independence Party Leader,
As leaders of New York's Independence Party, the decisions that we make today will have untold extraordinary affects on the future of our Party, our State and yes, even our Nation.
We must never forget from where we came; but if we are to continue our cause, we must focus on tomorrow and not yesterday. We must answer the challenges of today with valiant courage, and we must embrace those who have adopted our ideas and backed them with action.
Our party's mission is an important one and it is fundamentally based on the historic core of our democratic system, Political Liberty. We believe that the characteristic of a democracy is measured by the quality of participation by ordinary citizens. However, it is only through leaders who truly believe in the individual that our mission can move forward.
New York has just such a leader, whose belief in the individual over a belief in government is second to none. That's why, I believe, we must hold true to our ideals and do the right thing now for our Party and for the people of New York State by strongly supporting Governor George Pataki.
In recent weeks, a polling of key party leaders, members, and delegates of the Independence Party in Central New York, coming from Cayuga, Herkimer, Jefferson, Madison, Oneida, and Onondaga Counties, has shown overwhelming support for Governor Pataki. It is now clear that a compelling majority of delegates representing Central New York plan to support the Governor at our party's convention this spring.
Today, I announce my personal support and endorsement of Governor George Pataki and pledge to work to nominate him at our party's convention.
Like us, Governor Pataki supports policies like citizen initiative and referendum that gives people a real voice in their government.
Like us, Governor Pataki believes that we must change the way politics and political campaigns are funded because he knows that the ideas of ordinary people, not interest groups, are "special".
Again like us, Governor Pataki believes that government officials are not elected to represent the interests of one single group of people or political ideology, but are leaders responsible for reaching out to all people and to listening to each and every individual voice.
We are part of a movement, a system of beliefs that has rallied men and women from all walks of life to a calling that is greater than any political label or party apparatus. Our mission is dedicated to freedom and to democracy in its truest sense and most precise form. If we are to continue our crusade, we must now position ourselves with those who share sincere dedication to our mission, goals, and freedoms. We will demonstrate that dedication with continued hard work and action.
Governor Pataki has stood with us. Today, right now, we will and must unite and stand with him.
Sincerely,
Brian Kaiser
